Treviso, a northeastern Italian city, is the capital of the Province of Treviso.  The Province of Treviso is located in the Veneto Region.  The city, originally Roman settlement, was taken over by the Lombards in the late 6th century.  Later, it became part of the Venetian Republic, when it absorbed the Lombard League.

The city is a tourist attraction, with its picturesque cityscape, canals, and old, winding streets.  Tourists will also want to visit the Cathedral of San Pietro, built in the 16th century.
